Presenter: Dr. Muthukumar Ramaswamy, Technical Director
About the Speaker: Dr. M. Ramaswamy holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and has over 40 years of experience in engineering across India and Oman. He has served as a Technical Expert to the Government of Oman and has designed some of the largest utility plants in Southeast Asia. Dr. Ramaswamy has published over 100 research papers, authored six books, and is a member of various international professional organizations. He is also a visiting faculty member and advisor at multiple universities, including Sultan Qaboos University.
Overview: This seminar discussed the pivotal role of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineers in the sustainable design, construction, and operation of buildings. Tailored specifically to Oman’s environmental and infrastructural context, the presentation explored how MEP engineers contribute to the development of energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable buildings.

Event 2: Conceptual Structural Design: Principles and Considerations
About the Speaker: Nabil Shouki Otrie is a Chartered Structural Engineer with over eighteen years of experience in the analysis and design of structures. He holds a BEng (2005) and an MSc (2015) and currently serves as a Senior Structural Engineer at Ras Al-Khaimah Municipality. Nabil is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) and a committee member of the UAE Regional Group.
Overview: This virtual seminar explored the principles and key considerations involved in conceptual structural design. Nabil Shouki Otrie, a highly experienced structural engineer, shared his insights into how conceptual structural design influences the planning and execution of building and infrastructure projects. The session covered the decision-making processes and the core principles driving successful structural design.

Presenter: Eng. Husain Al Asfoor, Founder of eBinaa and Construction Expert
About the Speaker: Husain Al Asfoor is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Project Manager with over nine years of experience in real estate development, project management, and contract administration. Currently, he manages large-scale projects at Majid Al Futtaim, including the Mall of Oman. He holds a BEng in Civil Engineering from Swansea University and is a Certified PMP and Construction Arbitrator. Husain has also participated in national initiatives like Oman’s Vision 2040 and has completed leadership programs from Oxford University and the Diwan Institute of Capability Development.
Overview: This event focused on advanced project management methodologies and strategies for improving project outcomes in the engineering and construction sectors. Eng. Husain Al Asfoor shared his extensive knowledge and experience in managing large-scale projects, offering practical insights into enhanced project management techniques.
